Method
- In a medium mixing bowl, mash the ripe avocado thoroughly until smooth. Ensure there are no large chunks for a smoother bread texture.
- Add the self-rising flour and granulated sugar to the mashed avocado. Mix with a spatula until just combined and a soft dough forms. Avoid overmixing, as this can lead to a tough bread.
- Lightly flour your hands and shape the dough into a small loaf or a thick disk (approximately 4-5 inches in diameter and 1.5 inches thick) that will fit comfortably in your air fryer basket.
- Line your air fryer basket with a piece of parchment paper for easy removal and to prevent sticking. Preheat the air fryer to 325°F (160°C) for 3-5 minutes.
- Carefully place the shaped avocado bread dough onto the parchment paper in the preheated air fryer basket. Air fry for 18-22 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown on the outside and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Cooking times may vary slightly between air fryer models.
- Carefully remove the bread from the air fryer using the parchment paper and let it cool completely on a wire rack for at least 10-15 minutes before slicing and serving. Cooling helps the bread set properly.
Notes
This bread is best enjoyed warm. For a savory version, omit the sugar and consider adding a pinch of garlic powder or everything bagel seasoning to the dough (note: this will make it a 4-ingredient bread). Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. If the dough is too sticky, add a tiny bit more self-rising flour; if too dry, add a few drops of water or a tiny bit more mashed avocado.
