Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
For the cinnamon sugar:
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon

Equipment

  • Air Fryer: Essential for cooking the churros to achieve that crispy texture without deep frying.
  • Piping Bag (with star-shaped tip): Used for shaping the churros.
  • Saucepan: For boiling the water and butter mixture.
  • Mixing Bowls: For preparing the cinnamon sugar and churro dough.
  • Shallow Dish: For mixing the cinnamon and sugar for coating.
  • Spatula: For stirring and handling the dough.

Method

  1. Boil water and butter in a saucepan, adding salt and sugar until the butter melts.
  2. Add flour, stir, and cook until the dough forms a ball.
  3. Cool slightly, then add eggs one at a time, mixing thoroughly.
  4. Pipe dough into 3-4 inch strips in the air fryer.
  5. Preheat air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Cook churros for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  6. Toss churros in cinnamon sugar while warm.

Notes

Air fryer churros are a healthier, quicker version of the classic treat, crispy outside, soft inside, and coated with cinnamon sugar.
