Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 cup fresh spinach packed, about 1 oz
  • 1 cup frozen blueberries no need to thaw
  • 1 medium frozen banana about 1 cup sliced
  • 0.5 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk or milk of choice
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds optional, for thickness and fiber
  • 1 tsp honey or maple syrup optional, to taste
  • 0.25 tsp vanilla extract

Equipment

  • Blender

Method

Blend
  1. Add almond milk to blender first, then Greek yogurt, spinach, frozen banana, blueberries, chia seeds, vanilla, and honey if using. Starting with liquid helps the blender run smoothly.
  2. Blend on high speed for 45-60 seconds until completely smooth and no spinach flecks remain. Stop and scrape down sides once if needed. The smoothie should be thick but pourable.
  3. If too thick, add 2-3 tbsp more milk and pulse to combine. If too thin, add a few more frozen blueberries or a small handful of ice and blend again.
  4. Pour into two glasses and drink right away. The smoothie will separate if it sits too long.

Notes

Frozen banana is key for creaminess without ice diluting the flavor. Peel and freeze overripe bananas in chunks for easy blending. For a protein boost, add 1 scoop vanilla protein powder and reduce honey. The chia seeds thicken the smoothie as it sits, so drink within 15 minutes or add extra milk.
