Method
Make the Crust
- Crush Oreos into fine crumbs using a food processor or rolling pin. Stir in melted butter until evenly moistened. Press firmly into the bottom of a 9x13 inch dish to form a solid crust. Refrigerate while you make the filling.
Make the Cream Cheese Layer
- Beat softened cream cheese and powdered sugar with an electric mixer until completely smooth, about 2 minutes. Fold in 1.5 cups Cool Whip gently until no streaks remain. Spread evenly over the chilled crust.
Make the Chocolate Layer
- Whisk chocolate pudding mix with cold milk for 2 minutes until thickened. Let stand 5 minutes to set up further. Spread evenly over the cream cheese layer.
Assemble and Chill
- Spread remaining 1.5 cups Cool Whip over the pudding layer. Sprinkle mini chocolate chips on top. Cover and refrigerate at least 2.5 hours, preferably overnight, to set completely before serving.
Notes
For clean slices, run a sharp knife under hot water and wipe dry between cuts. You can substitute chocolate graham crackers for Oreos if you prefer a less sweet crust. This dessert keeps beautifully for up to 3 days covered in the refrigerator, making it perfect for entertaining.
