Prep the Bread
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Arrange the baguette slices in a single layer on a baking sheet. Brush both sides of each slice lightly with olive oil.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the bread is lightly golden brown and crisp. Remove from oven and let cool slightly.
Prepare Strawberries
- While the bread toasts, hull and thinly slice the fresh strawberries. Set aside.
Assemble the Bruschetta
- Once the toasted baguette slices are cool enough to handle, spread a generous layer of chocolate hazelnut spread evenly over one side of each slice. Arrange the sliced strawberries decoratively on top of the chocolate spread.
Finish and Serve
- If desired, drizzle a little balsamic glaze over the strawberries for a touch of sweet and tangy complexity. Lightly dust with powdered sugar and garnish with fresh mint leaves for a pop of color. Serve immediately and enjoy!
Notes
For an extra burst of flavor, toss the sliced strawberries with 1 teaspoon of granulated sugar and a squeeze of fresh lemon juice; let them sit for 5-10 minutes before topping the bruschetta. You can toast the baguette slices up to a day in advance and store them in an airtight container at room temperature. Assemble the bruschetta just before serving to prevent the bread from getting soggy. Don't limit yourself to Nutella! This recipe is also delicious with a simple dark chocolate ganache or a homemade sweet cream cheese spread.
