Ingredients

  • 2 cans Canned Tuna 5 oz each, albacore or skipjack in water, thoroughly drained
  • 1/2 cup Mayonnaise full-fat or light
  • 2 stalks Celery finely diced
  • 1/4 cup Red Onion finely minced
  • 2 tbsp Fresh Dill chopped
  • 1 tsp Dijon Mustard
  • 1 tsp Lemon Juice freshly squeezed
  • 1/4 tsp Salt or to taste
  • 1/8 tsp Black Pepper freshly ground, or to taste

Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl
  • Can opener
  • Fork
  • Cutting board
  • Knife

Method

  1. Open the cans of tuna and drain them thoroughly. Transfer the drained tuna to a medium-sized mixing bowl.
  2. Using a fork, gently flake the tuna in the bowl until it's broken into smaller, consistent pieces.
  3. Finely dice the celery stalks and mince the red onion. Chop the fresh dill.
  4. Add the diced celery, minced red onion, chopped fresh dill, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, and fresh lemon juice to the bowl with the flaked tuna.
  5. Stir all the ingredients together until well combined and creamy. Ensure the dressing is evenly distributed throughout the tuna.
  6. Season the tuna salad with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste. Mix again to incorporate the seasonings.
  7. For best flavor, cover the bowl and refrigerate the tuna salad for at least 15-30 minutes before serving. This allows the flavors to meld together beautifully.

Notes

Store leftover tuna salad in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. Serve on your favorite bread, crackers, lettuce cups, or as a topping for a fresh green salad. For an extra kick, consider adding a pinch of red pepper flakes. For a different texture and tangy flavor, you can also include finely chopped pickles or capers.
