Prepare the Toppings
- Preheat your oven and pizza stone (if using) to 475°F (245°C). If using a baking sheet, place it in the oven to preheat.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil and the butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the thinly sliced onions and green bell peppers. Sauté for 5-7 minutes, or until softened and lightly caramelized. Remove from skillet and set aside.
- Add another 1 tablespoon of olive oil to the same skillet. Increase heat to high. Add the very thinly sliced steak in a single layer. Cook for 1-2 minutes per side until browned and cooked through. Season with salt and black pepper to taste. Break up any larger pieces with a spoon or spatula. Remove from skillet and set aside.
Assemble the Pizza
- In a small bowl, combine the remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil with minced garlic, dried oregano (if using), and red pepper flakes (if using).
- On a lightly floured surface, stretch or roll out the pizza dough to your desired thickness, about a 12-14 inch circle.
- Carefully transfer the dough to a piece of parchment paper or directly onto a lightly floured pizza peel. Brush the garlic oil mixture evenly over the surface of the pizza dough, leaving a small border for the crust.
- Evenly sprinkle half of the mozzarella cheese over the garlic oil base, followed by all of the provolone cheese. Then, distribute the cooked steak, sautéed onions, and bell peppers over the cheese layers. Finish with the remaining mozzarella cheese.
Bake and Serve
- Carefully slide the pizza (with parchment paper if using) onto the preheated pizza stone or baking sheet in the oven.
- Bake for 12-18 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly and melted. Cooking time may vary based on your oven and desired crispness.
- Remove the pizza from the oven and let it rest for 2-3 minutes before slicing. Slice into 8 pieces with a pizza cutter and serve hot.
Notes
For easier slicing of the steak, place it in the freezer for about 20-30 minutes before cutting. This helps firm it up for super thin slices. Adjust seasoning to your preference, and feel free to add a dash of Worcestershire sauce to the steak for extra savory depth.
