Cook the Pasta
- Bring a large pot of generously salted water to a rolling boil. Add the farfalle pasta and cook according to package directions until just al dente. It's crucial not to overcook the pasta, as slightly firm pasta makes the crispiest chips.
- Drain the pasta thoroughly using a colander. Do not rinse. Let it sit for a minute to allow excess water to steam off.
Season and Coat
- Transfer the drained pasta to a large mixing bowl. Drizzle with olive oil and toss well to coat each piece evenly. This prevents them from sticking and helps them get crispy.
- In a small bowl, combine the grated Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and black pepper. Sprinkle this seasoning mixture over the oiled pasta and toss again until every piece is well-coated.
Air Fry to Perfection
- Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 3-5 minutes.
- Place the seasoned pasta in the air fryer basket in a single, even layer. Do not overcrowd the basket; cook in 2-3 batches if necessary for the best results.
- Air fry for 8-10 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through the cooking time. The pasta chips are done when they are golden brown and crispy to the touch.
- Remove the pasta chips from the air fryer and let them cool for a minute or two—they will get even crispier as they cool. Repeat with the remaining pasta.
Serve
- Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce, such as marinara, whipped feta, or a creamy pesto dip.
Notes
Oven Method: If you don't have an air fryer, preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Spread the seasoned pasta in a single layer on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden and crisp. Storage: Pasta chips are best enjoyed fresh. If you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days. You can briefly reheat them in the air fryer for 1-2 minutes to restore crispiness. Variations: Feel free to experiment with other seasonings! Try taco seasoning with a salsa dip, or ranch seasoning with a ranch dip.
