Ingredients

For the Smoothie Base
  • 1 medium frozen banana sliced into chunks before freezing
  • 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tbsp creamy peanut butter or any nut butter of choice
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk or other plant-based milk
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch sea salt enhances chocolate flavor
Suggested Toppings
  • 1 tbsp chopped peanuts
  • 1 tbsp mini chocolate chips or cacao nibs
  • 1/4 medium banana sliced
  • 1 tsp chia seeds

Equipment

  • High-Speed Blender
  • Serving Bowl

Method

Prepare the Smoothie Base
  1. Combine all smoothie base ingredients (frozen banana, cocoa powder, peanut butter, almond milk, vanilla extract, and sea salt) into a high-speed blender.
  2. Blend on high speed, scraping down the sides as needed, until the mixture is completely smooth and thick. If the mixture is too thick to blend, add almond milk 1 tablespoon at a time until desired consistency is reached. Aim for a consistency similar to soft-serve ice cream.
Assemble the Bowl
  1. Pour the thick chocolate peanut butter smoothie into a serving bowl.
  2. Arrange your desired toppings decoratively over the smoothie. We recommend chopped peanuts, mini chocolate chips, fresh banana slices, and chia seeds for added texture and nutrition.
  3. Serve immediately and enjoy your delicious and nutritious Chocolate Peanut Butter Smoothie Bowl!

Notes

For an extra protein boost, add 1 scoop of your favorite chocolate or vanilla protein powder to the blender. If you prefer a colder, thicker bowl, reduce the almond milk by a few tablespoons or add a few ice cubes. You can also prepare a larger batch and store it in an airtight container in the freezer for up to 3 days; let it thaw slightly before serving.
