Ingredients

For the Salmon
  • 1.5 lbs salmon fillets 4 skin-on or skinless fillets, about 6 oz each
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper freshly ground
For the Gochujang Glaze
  • 1/4 cup gochujang Korean chili paste
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger grated
  • 1 tsp sesame oil toasted
For Garnish
  • 2 tbsp green onions sliced
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds toasted

Equipment

  • Small mixing bowl
  • Whisk
  • Baking Sheet
  • Parchment Paper

Method

Prep the Oven & Baking Sheet
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
Make the Gochujang Glaze
  1. In a small bowl, whisk together the gochujang, honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, minced garlic, grated ginger, and sesame oil until everything is well combined and smooth. This is your delicious glaze!
Prepare the Salmon
  1. Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels; this helps the glaze stick better and ensures a nicer sear. Season generously with kosher salt and black pepper on both sides.
Glaze & Bake
  1. Place the salmon fillets skin-side down on the prepared baking sheet. Brush about half of the gochujang glaze evenly over the top of each fillet. Bake for 8 minutes.
  2. Remove the baking sheet from the oven. Brush the remaining glaze over the salmon fillets. Return to the oven and continue baking for another 5-7 minutes, or until the salmon is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork. The internal temperature should reach 145°F (63°C).
Serve & Garnish
  1. Let the salmon rest on the baking sheet for 2-3 minutes before serving. Garnish with sliced green onions and toasted sesame seeds for a fresh finish.

Notes

Make ahead: You can whisk together the gochujang glaze up to 3 days in advance and store it in an airtight container in the fridge. This makes weeknight cooking even faster!
Serving suggestions: This salmon is fantastic served with a side of steamed white or brown rice to soak up all that delicious sauce, and some simple steamed or roasted greens like broccoli or bok choy.
Spice adjustment: If you prefer a milder flavor, reduce the amount of gochujang to 3 tablespoons and increase the honey by 1 tablespoon. For extra heat, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the glaze.
