Prep and Blend
- Wash your spinach, green apple, and cucumber thoroughly. Core and roughly chop the apple. Peel and roughly chop the fresh ginger.
- Add the unsweetened almond milk to your high-speed blender first. This helps with smoother blending and protects the blades.
- Next, add the fresh spinach, followed by the frozen banana slices, chopped green apple, chopped cucumber, fresh ginger, freshly squeezed lemon juice, and chia seeds.
- Top with the ice cubes. The ice will help make the smoothie extra cold and thick.
- Secure the lid and blend on high speed for 1-2 minutes, or until the smoothie is completely smooth and creamy, with no leafy chunks visible. You might need to stop and scrape down the sides with a spatula if ingredients stick.
- If the smoothie is too thick, add a splash more almond milk (1-2 tablespoons at a time) and blend again until you reach your desired consistency. Pour into a tall glass and enjoy immediately.
Notes
Feel free to swap spinach for kale if you prefer a bolder, slightly more bitter green. If you don't have frozen banana, use a fresh one and add a bit more ice. For a protein boost, add a scoop of your favorite plant-based protein powder before blending.
