Ingredients
  

Homemade Hash Browns

  • 2 Russet potatoes peeled and grated
  • 1 tbsp olive oil or cooking spray
  • 1/2 tsp salt to taste
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder optional
  • 1/4 tsp onion powder optional
  • 1/4 tsp paprika optional

Instructions
 

  • Wash, peel, and grate the potatoes.
  • Soak grated potatoes in cold water for at least 15 minutes to remove excess starch.
  • Drain the potatoes and squeeze out as much moisture as possible using a kitchen towel.
  • Season the potatoes with salt, pepper, and optional seasonings like garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika.
  • Preheat the air fryer to 380°F (193°C).
  • Lightly spray the air fryer basket with oil or cooking spray.
  • Add the seasoned potatoes in a thin, even layer in the air fryer basket.
  • Air fry for 12-15 minutes, shaking the basket or flipping the hash browns halfway through cooking.
  • Cook until golden and crispy.

Notes

For frozen shredded hash browns, cook at 380°F for 8-10 minutes. For frozen hash brown patties, cook at 380°F for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway. Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days or freeze cooked hash browns for up to 3 months.
