Method

  1. Wash, peel, and grate the potatoes.
  2. Soak grated potatoes in cold water for at least 15 minutes to remove excess starch.
  3. Drain the potatoes and squeeze out as much moisture as possible using a kitchen towel.
  4. Season the potatoes with salt, pepper, and optional seasonings like garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika.
  5. Preheat the air fryer to 380°F (193°C).
  6. Lightly spray the air fryer basket with oil or cooking spray.
  7. Add the seasoned potatoes in a thin, even layer in the air fryer basket.
  8. Air fry for 12-15 minutes, shaking the basket or flipping the hash browns halfway through cooking.
  9. Cook until golden and crispy.

Notes

For frozen shredded hash browns, cook at 380°F for 8-10 minutes. For frozen hash brown patties, cook at 380°F for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway. Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days or freeze cooked hash browns for up to 3 months.
