Prepare the Chicken
- Cut the chicken breast into 1/2-inch cubes. In a medium bowl, toss the chicken with olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper until evenly coated.
- Choose your preferred method: * **Skillet Method:** Heat a large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Add the seasoned chicken and cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until cooked through and lightly browned. * **Air Fryer Method:** Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Arrange the seasoned chicken in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Cook for 8-10 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through, until the chicken is cooked through and lightly golden. Remove the cooked chicken from the heat and set aside.
- In a small microwave-safe bowl, melt the unsalted butter. Stir in the minced garlic and chopped fresh parsley (if using). Mix well and set aside.
Assemble the Wraps
- Lay one large flour tortilla flat on a clean surface. Spread 1 oz (about 1 tablespoon) of softened cream cheese evenly over the center of the tortilla, leaving about a 1-inch border around the edges. If desired, spread 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise over the cream cheese layer for extra creaminess.
- Spoon approximately 1/4 of the cooked garlic chicken over the cream cheese/mayonnaise layer. Generously sprinkle about 1/4 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese and 2 tablespoons of shredded sharp cheddar cheese over the chicken.
- To fold, bring the bottom edge of the tortilla up and over the filling. Then, fold in the left and right sides tightly towards the center. Finally, roll the tortilla tightly from the bottom up to create a sealed wrap. Repeat this process for the remaining three wraps.
Cook the Wraps
- Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Using a pastry brush, liberally brush both the top and bottom of each assembled wrap with the prepared garlic butter. Place 1-2 wraps (depending on the size of your air fryer) seam-side down in the air fryer basket. Cook for 6-8 minutes, flipping halfway, until they are golden brown, crispy, and the cheese is bubbly and melted through (ooey-gooey!).
- Alternatively, heat a large non-stick skillet over medium heat. Brush both sides of each wrap with garlic butter. Place the wraps seam-side down in the skillet. Cook for 3-4 minutes per side, pressing lightly with a spatula, until golden brown and the cheese is melted.
- Carefully remove the Ooey-Gooey Cheesy Garlic Chicken Wraps from the air fryer or skillet. Serve immediately and enjoy the warm, cheesy, garlic-infused goodness!
Notes
For an extra kick, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the chicken seasoning. You can also add some finely chopped fresh spinach or sun-dried tomatoes to the filling for added flavor and color. These wraps are best served fresh for optimal crispiness and gooey cheese, but leftovers can be reheated gently in an air fryer or oven.
