Ingredients

  • 2 lbs Cocktail Sausages Lil Smokies, drained
  • 1 packet Au Jus Gravy Mix 1 oz packet
  • 1 packet Ranch Seasoning Mix 1 oz packet
  • 1/2 cup Pepperoncini Peppers whole or sliced, drained
  • 1/4 cup Pepperoncini Juice from the jar
  • 1/4 cup Unsalted Butter cut into 4-5 pieces

Equipment

  • Slow Cooker (4-6 quart)
  • Whisk
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Method

  1. Lightly grease the inside of a 4-6 quart slow cooker, if desired, or use a slow cooker liner for easier cleanup.
  2. Place the drained cocktail sausages (Lil Smokies) evenly into the slow cooker.
  3. Sprinkle the au jus gravy mix packet and the ranch seasoning mix packet evenly over the sausages.
  4. Distribute the pepperoncini peppers over the sausages. Pour the pepperoncini juice over everything.
  5. Dot the top of the ingredients with the pieces of unsalted butter.
  6. Cover the slow cooker and cook on LOW for 2-3 hours, or on HIGH for 1-1.5 hours, stirring once halfway through, until the sauce is bubbly and the sausages are thoroughly heated.
  7. Serve hot directly from the slow cooker with toothpicks, or transfer to a serving dish.

Notes

For a spicier kick, add a pinch of red pepper flakes or a dash of hot sauce to the mixture. You can use beef, turkey, or pork cocktail sausages. Store any leftover Lil Smokies in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. Reheat gently in the microwave or on the stovetop. Serve as an appetizer with toothpicks, or even as a casual main dish alongside rice or mashed potatoes.
