Ingredients

For the Flatbread Pizza
  • 2 Naan flatbreads (8-inch, pre-made)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce store-bought or homemade
  • 4 oz fresh mozzarella thinly sliced or small balls, patted dry
  • 1 medium ripe tomato thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves torn or roughly chopped
  • 1 pinch red pepper flakes optional, for a touch of heat
  • 1 pinch salt to taste
  • 1 pinch black pepper freshly ground, to taste
For Garnish (Optional)
  • 1 tbsp balsamic glaze store-bought or homemade

Equipment

  • Baking Sheet
  • Parchment Paper

Method

Prepare for Baking
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup and to prevent sticking.
  2. Place the Naan flatbreads on the prepared baking sheet. Lightly brush the exposed edges of each flatbread with 1 tablespoon of olive oil. This helps them crisp up nicely.
Assemble the Pizzas
  1. Evenly spread 1/4 cup of pizza sauce over each flatbread, leaving a small, crust-like border around the edge.
  2. Distribute the thinly sliced fresh mozzarella over the pizza sauce.
  3. Arrange the sliced tomatoes on top of the mozzarella. Season lightly with salt and black pepper to taste, and sprinkle with red pepper flakes if you enjoy a little heat.
Bake and Serve
  1. Bake the flatbread pizzas in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes, or until the cheese is fully melted and bubbly, and the flatbread edges are golden brown and crispy.
  2. Carefully remove the baking sheet from the oven. Immediately scatter the fresh basil leaves over the hot pizzas, allowing the residual heat to warm the basil and release its aroma.
  3. If desired, drizzle a tablespoon of balsamic glaze over each pizza for an added layer of sweet and tangy flavor. Slice the flatbread pizzas into desired portions and serve hot.

Notes

Feel free to customize with your favorite toppings! Cooked chicken, mushrooms, or bell peppers would also be delicious. For an extra crispy crust, pre-bake the flatbreads for 2-3 minutes before adding toppings. This recipe can easily be scaled up for more servings.
