Ingredients

Fruit Base
  • 1.5 cups frozen strawberries no need to thaw
  • 1 medium apple Honeycrisp or Gala, cored and chopped, skin on
  • 0.5 medium banana fresh or frozen, for creaminess
Liquid & Extras
  • 0.5 cup apple juice or cider chilled
  • 0.25 cup plain Greek yogurt for protein and body
  • 1 tbsp honey or to taste
  • 1 tsp fresh lemon juice brightens the flavor
  • 0.5 cup ice cubes optional, for thicker texture

Equipment

  • Blender
  • Measuring Cups

Method

Blend
  1. Core the apple and chop into rough 1-inch pieces. No need to peel - the skin adds fiber and color. If using a fresh banana, break it into chunks.
  2. Add apple juice, yogurt, lemon juice, and honey to the blender first. Then add the chopped apple, banana, and frozen strawberries on top. This order helps the blender pull ingredients down smoothly.
  3. Start on low speed for 15 seconds to break up the fruit, then increase to high. Blend 45-60 seconds until completely smooth and no apple skin flecks remain. Stop and scrape down sides if needed.
  4. If too thick, add a splash more juice. If too thin, add ice cubes and blend 15 seconds more. Taste and add more honey if your apple was tart.
  5. Pour into chilled glasses. The smoothie is best enjoyed right away before it separates.

Notes

For a dairy-free version, swap the yogurt for coconut yogurt or half a small avocado. Frozen strawberries work better than fresh here - they chill the smoothie without watering it down with excess ice. If you want to prep ahead, chop the apple and freeze it on a baking sheet; frozen apple blends even creamier.
