Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup frozen pineapple chunks for a cold, thick smoothie
  • 1 medium frozen banana peeled and sliced before freezing
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened almond milk or coconut water, or other milk of choice
  • 1/2 inch fresh ginger peeled and roughly chopped (optional, for extra kick)
  • 1/2 tsp ground turmeric or 1-inch fresh turmeric root, peeled and chopped
  • 1/2 tbsp honey or maple syrup optional, adjust to taste
  • 1 tsp chia seeds optional, for extra fiber and thickness

Method
 

  1. Add all ingredients – frozen pineapple chunks, frozen banana, unsweetened almond milk, fresh ginger (if using), ground turmeric, optional honey/maple syrup, and optional chia seeds – into a high-speed blender.
  2. Blend on high speed until completely smooth and creamy. If the smoothie is too thick, add an additional splash of almond milk until desired consistency is reached.
  3. Pour into a glass and serve immediately. Garnish with a small pineapple wedge or a sprinkle of turmeric if desired.

Notes

For a thicker smoothie, reduce the almond milk slightly. If you don't have frozen fruit, use fresh fruit and add 1/2 cup of ice. Fresh turmeric and ginger will give a stronger, more vibrant flavor than ground spices. You can also add a scoop of your favorite protein powder for an extra boost.
