  • 1 cup strawberries frozen
  • 1 medium banana ripe, sliced and frozen (for best results)
  • 1/2 cup milk dairy or non-dairy, cold
  • 1/4 cup Greek yogurt plain or vanilla (optional, for extra creaminess and protein)
  • 1-2 tsp honey or maple syrup optional, to taste
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract optional, enhances flavor
  • 2-3 ice cubes optional, if fruit isn't completely frozen

Method
 

  1. Add all ingredients (frozen strawberries, frozen banana, milk, optional Greek yogurt, optional honey/maple syrup, optional vanilla extract, and optional ice cubes) into your blender.
  2. Secure the lid on the blender and blend on high speed until the mixture is completely smooth and creamy. Use a tamper if your blender has one to help incorporate thicker ingredients.
  3. Check the consistency. If the smoothie is too thick, add more milk, 1 tablespoon at a time, and blend again until your desired pourable consistency is reached.
  4. Pour the freshly blended strawberry banana smoothie into two glasses and serve immediately for the best taste and texture.

Notes

For a thicker smoothie, ensure all your fruit is frozen solid and use the minimum amount of liquid. For a thinner consistency, simply add more milk. Feel free to adjust the sweetness level to your preference with more or less honey/maple syrup. A scoop of your favorite protein powder can be added for an extra nutritional boost, especially if enjoyed post-workout. This strawberry banana smoothie is best consumed fresh.
