Ingredients

  • 1 cup Fresh Dandelion Greens packed, washed thoroughly, young leaves are less bitter
  • 1 medium Sweet Apple e.g., Gala, Fuji, Honeycrisp; cored and roughly chopped
  • 1/2 Frozen Banana peeled and sliced before freezing for best texture
  • 3/4 cup Unsweetened Almond Milk or other plant-based milk or water, adjust for desired consistency
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh Lemon Juice to brighten flavors and cut bitterness
  • 1/2 inch Fresh Ginger piece, peeled (optional, for a subtle kick)
  • 1-2 teaspoons Maple Syrup or honey/agave, to taste (optional)
  • 1/2 cup Ice Cubes optional, for extra chill

Equipment

  • High-Speed Blender
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Cutting board
  • Knife

Method

Prepare Ingredients
  1. Ensure your dandelion greens are thoroughly washed. For best results and less bitterness, use young, tender dandelion leaves. Core and roughly chop your apple.
  2. Peel the ginger piece (if using) and have all other ingredients measured and ready.
Blend Smoothie
  1. Add the washed dandelion greens, chopped apple, frozen banana, almond milk, fresh lemon juice, and ginger (if using) to your high-speed blender.
  2. If desired, add maple syrup or your preferred sweetener and ice cubes.
  3. Blend on high speed until completely smooth and creamy, about 30-60 seconds. If the smoothie is too thick, add a splash more almond milk or water until it reaches your desired consistency. If it's too thin, add a few more ice cubes or a bit more frozen banana.
Serve
  1. Pour the vibrant Dandelion & Apple Smoothie into a glass and serve immediately to enjoy its maximum freshness and nutritional benefits.

Notes

For less bitterness, blanching dandelion greens for a minute in boiling water before adding to the smoothie can help, but you'll lose some nutrients. Young, wild dandelion leaves are generally less bitter than older ones. You can adjust the sweetness by adding more apple, banana, or maple syrup. For a thicker, colder smoothie, ensure your banana is well-frozen and use ice cubes.
