Method
- In a medium-sized mixing bowl, combine the mayonnaise, ketchup, prepared horseradish, Worcestershire sauce, and fresh lemon juice (if using).
- Add the smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, a pinch of salt, and a pinch of black pepper to the bowl.
- Whisk all ingredients together thoroughly until the sauce is completely smooth and all spices are well incorporated. Ensure there are no lumps.
- Taste the sauce and adjust seasonings as desired. You might want more cayenne for extra heat, more lemon for tang, or additional salt and pepper.
- For best flavor, cover the bowl and refrigerate the sauce for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld. This step is optional but highly recommended.
- Serve chilled with your favorite blooming onion, French fries, onion rings, or other fried appetizers.
Notes
Store any leftover sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5-7 days. For a thinner sauce, you can add a tiny splash of milk or water, one teaspoon at a time, until desired consistency is reached. If you don't have fresh lemon juice, a tiny splash of apple cider vinegar can be a substitute for the tang.
